Our Company History
Passionate about instilling the comfort of love and security in young children, Loveable Look-a-Like Founder Lori Reader drew on her own mothering experience to create a line of soft, personalized dolls. Hot pressed with the face of a special person in a child’s life, these unique dolls offer children an added level of comfort, especially at bedtime. The dolls also are the perfect solution to ease children of separation anxiety due to divorce, military deployment, parent business trips, pre-school, hospitalizations, visits with caregivers, or when they simply need some quiet relaxation time.

After earning a degree in public relations, Lori, a graduate of Rowan University in New Jersey, took the helm as marketing director of her husband’s dental practice and soon positioned him as the premier dentist in Viera, FL, and the first Brevard County dentist certified in LUMINEERS by Cerinate, a revolutionary enhancement for correcting chips, stains, misalignments and spaces between teeth. Following that success, Lori set her sites on launching another successful enterprise that speaks to her passion as a mother.
When her four children were little, Lori had learned they all wanted her to snuggle with her at bedtime, and as she moved from bed to bed, they always begged for more time. One day inspiration struck, and the first Loveable Look-a-Like doll was born.
How We Create Loveable Look-a-Like Dolls
When Lori decided to introduce her Loveable Look-a-Like dolls to the public, she teamed up with textile expert Brenda Mulberry, CEO of Space Shirts in Merritt Island, Florida. Space Shirts, which manufactures and imprints Loveable Look-a-Like dolls, also is the premier designer of custom art produced for sale and promotional needs of the Kennedy Space Center, among many other industries and businesses nationwide. Brenda and her design team have created custom shirt designs and products for almost every Space Shuttle mission in the past decade. That same history and attention to detail helps ensure success of the Loveable Look-a-Like manufacturing enterprise.
Loveable Look-a-Like dolls are hot stamped and assembled at Space Shirts' large production facility, where a team of graphic artists, textile, marketing, and fulfillment experts help us ensure a high level of quality control for every Loveable Look-a-Like product.
Today, Loveable Look-a-Like fills orders from across the country for our unique dolls, which are made of soft cotton, and customized with photo faces of parents, grandparents, siblings or special friends, as well as digital voice recordings and hand-sewn outfits. Loveable Look-a-Like dolls are great for children to cuddle, tote to pre-school, bring on visits. They also help children feel close to someone they love, and can provide comfort during times of bereavement. For adults, Loveable Look-a-Likes are a fun gift, and can be imprinted with the face of a loved one for family members in nursing homes or Alzheimer's units.
